(inter)national poetry month
April 2012

” T ”  the men

featured poets
at my heart’s love songs

marvelous  men  poets
{ some of  them anyway ~
more to come }

to celebrate {inter}national poetry month,  i am pleased to be featuring some of  the most creative,  talented,  brilliant  {really!}  poets of  our time.  i have been fortunate over the past two and a half years to meet this amazing group of  people through twitter and their blogs.  not only are they writers who excite and enchant and entrance their readers,  they are,  one and all,  nice people who are supportive of  everyone in our online poetry community.  the “age of  technology”  has,  in fact,  facilitated the spread of  the ARTS! ~  poetry,  photography,  art,  prose,  music…   i have friends i have yet to meet face-to-face from all around the world.  day or night,  you can visit their blogs and be transported to another time or place or frame of  mind with just a few clicks of  a mouse.  i find it thrilling!  and i believe you will find it equally thrilling to discover their words.

i will be putting up these posts throughout the month of  April to reacquaint you with old friends and introduce you to new ones.  in order to include as many poets as possible,  most posts will contain the work of  several poets,  with a short introduction to each one and a small sampling of their poetry.  i am participating in the  Blogging from A to Z Challenge April 2012  by featuring the poets in alphabetical order by first name,  and that is how they will be grouped together.   { i even have posts for the letters “Q” “X” and “Z” }

just click on the  “Read More”  links on each poem to be taken to a new tab or window to read the rest of  the poem on the author’s blog.  if  you enjoy what you read,  please leave a comment on their blog to let them know.  { you don’t have to say you saw them here. }  i am truly honored that these wonderful people agreed to be featured on my blog ~  my gratitude to them all.

and thank you for coming to our celebration ~  enjoy!

{ in alphabetical order by first name }

Chris Galford  is a writer,  reviewer,  photographer,  journalist,  and amateur philosopher from the American MidWest recently transplanted to Colorado.   Chris has two blogs:   The Waking Den,  which features poetry,  fiction  &  photography;  and  Galford Photography.   he writes a feature every Monday for  dVerse ~ Poets Pub  called Pretzels and Bullfights  showcasing poets.  { Chris also spotlights poets at  The Waking Den. }   his first novel,  titled The Hollow March,  was published December 2011 ~  click  HERE   for more information about the novel and formats/locations to purchase it,  including a  Kindle version.   Chris currently works as a freelance  journalist and photographer.
Twitter:  @Aurinth

all of  Chris’  poetry is superb,  but my favorite is his haiku ~ he is a true master of  the form.  Chris has been very kind to me in his insightful comments at my blog,  and i hope he knows how much  i’ve appreciated it.  in his own words ~

“I am a graduate of  Michigan State University (Go Spartans!),  and one of the many fresh,  starving masses of grads with a BA in Journalism…  I have been writing since I was little,  and my greatest pleasure in life would be to spend my years as an author and a poet,  creativity my only guide and only boundary.  In the meantime,  writing is my escape,  and my blog,  the host for my work.”

featured poet:     Vinay Ravindranath
aka   Leo,  the Amateur Poet

Leo is unique in my world ~  i met him when he wrote a review of  my blog in 2010.   i like him,  not because he was so kind in the review  { okay,  that may be part of  why i  first liked him }  but because he is a nice man who has always encouraged me in my writing,  and an excellent  poet and writer…  i don’t understand how he came by the name  “Amateur Poet”  as that is sooooo far from the truth.   Leo  has a writing blog  I  Rhyme Without Reason  and  hosts  a haiku meme blog  Haiku Heights  { prompts every Saturday }  where every April  he hosts  The Heights of  Haiku Challenge  { 30 days of  prompts for  haiku/senryu }  and  a  prose meme  blog  Thursday Tales  { prompts every Thursday.}   i love the quote he has at  I  Rhyme Without Reason  ~

“I  write for the same reason I  breathe ~  because if  I didn’t,  I would die.”
~  Isaak Asimov

a little about  Leo in his own words ~

“… I rhyme without reason,  coz my love for writing is unconditional.  To me,  writing is an art that I’m trying to perfect.  I’ve been blogging since November 2006 and it wasn’t my first choice actually,  blogging…  I was brought to this beautiful world by a friend,  and I’ve not looked back since.”

We need a word of praise

2012 featured poet at
my heart’s love songs

NaBloPoMoSoup

i would have loved to have included more poets,  but it just wasn’t possible in the amount of  time which i can devote to my blog right now.  there are many, many more poets who are far better writers than i,  and i sincerely hope no one is offended that i did not ask them to participate.  these are the poets i  “know”  and felt comfortable approaching.  maybe you and i can get better acquainted before next year?  {smile}  thank you for your visit!  ♥  dani

  1. Dani, I ‘met’ some new poets here. Really appreciate being ‘introduced.’ This really is a ‘service’ to the community.

  2. Finally, I found the link I got featured.. Hmm.. Thank you so much Dani.. I will update the link in my blog.. Tip: It will look good if you add a link in your sidebar or footer and link the featured poets name and your blog link.
